RESORT 25

For Eddie Nelson, founder of Bred, breath is far more than a basic function, it’s a tool for grounding, healing, and genuine transformation. Through her blend of movement and conscious breath, she helps people reconnect with their bodies, release emotions, and find a sense of calm and care for themselves.

She’s just launched Bred’s online platform, with guided sessions anytime, anywhere, from quick 2-minute resets to full 45-minute practices, to support your mind, body, and heart.

We sat down with Eddie to hear how she discovered breathwork, what inspired Bred, and how mindful breathing can truly help us feel more connected and at ease.

New Season - Resort

What is Breathwork and how did you get into it?

Breathwork, simply put, is mindfully breathing. By practicing breathing techniques, we can shift how we feel physically, mentally, and emotionally! My dad was the one who introduced me to it! He couldn’t believe how different he felt and told me I had to try it. I did a session straight away and for the first time ever, I felt truly connected to my body and breath. That moment really did change everything. I became a qualified breathwork coach and decided to start sharing it with the world.

Your business is called “Bred.” What inspired the name?

Bred was inspired by my two younger sisters, Sophie and Eliza, who were both struggling with anxiety, the usual mental health stuff so many of us go through as women. I basically started forcing my middle sister Sophie to do movement and breathwork with me haha and she felt a shift almost instantly. That’s when the Bred Method was born — a combination of movement and conscious breath designed to help you come home to yourself. The concept is to get your daily bred!

Is it true that breathwork helps with anxiety?

Absolutely! I used to feel anxious almost all the time and even had panic attacks. When I started learning about the diaphragm, which we call the second brain, I realised I had been breathing incorrectly my whole life, always shallow breathing through my chest. Once I opened up my diaphragm and started consciously breathing from my belly, everything changed. With consistent practice (you can access this on my online portal) my anxiety began to melt away. We all need to come back to the breath, that’s where we reconnect with ourselves.

Can we really release stored emotions through breathwork?

Yes! And this is why I’m so obsessed with it. Our emotions, memories, and experiences live in the body. When we breathe in specific ways, we quiet the thinking mind and access the subconscious, where everything we’ve stored sits. That’s when things start to move. Tears, laughter, love, grief, gratitude... it all comes up. I believe when we get out of our minds and into our bodies, we finally feel what we need to feel.

Is breathwork the same as meditation?

Not at all! Breathwork is active — I’m giving you something to do the entire time. It’s not about sitting still with your thoughts, which can be really hard these days with how overstimulated we all are. I always say: start with the breathwork to calm the body, then go into meditation. It’s the perfect combo.
